Psychodynamic counselling is an open ended therapy which is led by the client with a planned ending when the work comes to a natural end and agreed by both client and counsellor. I also offer a shorter term approach of up to 8 sessions, where the work can be more focussed on a specific problem. This can be reviewed with the client, if it is felt that more sessions are needed. All counselling work is supervised by a Professional Supervising Counsellor adhering to the BACP guidelines for ethical practice.
Some of the issues that psychodynamic counselling can help with, but not limited to:
Anxiety
Depression
Grief and bereavement
Relationship problems
Self esteem
Bullying
Employment and work place issues
Auto-immune and other health related issues
Life stage changes
Trauma
Addiction
Childhood experience
Feelings of hopelessness
Lack of confidence
I will conduct an assessment session where we will discuss what problems, life circumstances and issues have prompted you to think about coming to therapy and what you would like to achieve from the therapy space. We can consider whether the Psychodynamic approach may be suitable and whether shorter term or long term therapy may be most suitable to meet your needs. If you have any questions about counselling, before making any commitment - please email me.
